With eleven new songs, collectively written using an algorithmic script devised by the band, the album ranges from serious to playful, from personal to political, and from funky grooves to dreamy ballads. Fans who have heard the tracks say they combine the exuberance of the 1990s incarnation of God Street Wine with a more recently acquired polish and subtlety, as well as a wider range of lyrical subjects.

The Pour House limited edition double vinyl LP contains a side of bonus live tracks, not available anywhere else, from the first performance of The Method Songs at Utopia Studios in Woodstock, NY.

ABOUT GOD STREET WINE

Formed in 1988 by college students Lo Faber, Aaron Maxwell, Dan Pifer, Jon Bevo, and Tom Osander, God Street Wine played a prominent role in the early jam band scene alongside fellow New Yorkers Blues Traveler and Spin Doctors. Throughout the 1990s, first as independent artist and then under record deals with Geffen and Mercury, they toured constantly across the USA, including runs with the HORDE Tour, Allman Brothers Band, Bruce Hornsby and The Black Crowes, also releasing 5 studio albums before breaking up at the end of 1999 with a three-night farewell engagement at NYC’s Wetlands Preserve.

In the next few years, songwriter Lo Faber released two original rock operas before relocating to New Orleans, where he taught at Loyola University and began working with numerous Crescent City musicians; drummer Tom Osander moved first to Dublin, then to Berlin, collaborating with numerous artists including Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice; and guitarist Aaron Maxwell moved to Woodstock and eventually joined the touring band of keyboard virtuoso Bruce Katz.

Finally, after a decade apart, GSW reunited privately in 2009 to honor the passing of an old friend and then publicly in 2010 with four concerts in NYC benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Infrequent but memorable reunion shows continued on both the East and West Coasts, including joyous collaborations with Bob Weir and Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead. 2013 saw the release of a 25th anniversary Box Set retrospective along with the documentary film All The Way To Here. Now spread out across the globe in New York, New Orleans and Berlin, the band worked on new studio tracks, yielding eight new single releases in 2017-18 and the full length album This Fine Town in 2019.

Following a second, four-year hiatus prolonged by the COVID crisis, GSW got together again with a string of sold-out shows in 2023 and 2024, as well as pressing three of their early albums on vinyl for the first time. Early 2025 saw more shows and the release of "Mantoloking and Other Songs," the band’s tenth album, featuring early, never-recorded material.

Even while playing shows and finishing work on "Mantoloking," GSW was embarking on arguably their most original and challenging project in over 35 years of music making: a collaborative songwriting project they called The Method, based on an algorithmic script conceived by Faber, which eventually yielded 11 completely new songs jointly written by all five band members. Eventually the Method songs were recorded at Utopia Studios in March 2026, including an in-studio performance with a live audience on the final day of recording; the video of that performance, the finished album, and an accompanying book will all be released in Fall 2026 with shows in New York City and Woodstock, NY.

Estimated Shipping Late Fall 2026

https://pourhousepressing.myshopify.com/products/pre-order-god-street-wine-the-method-2lp-specialty-hand-pour
